15 Jan WELCOME TO THE 2020 ACADEMIC YEAR
It is with great pleasure that I welcome your staff, students, parents, friends of the college, and the entire Hillcrest community to the 2020 academic year.
It was encouraging to see all of our students yesterday with new energy and refreshed spirits- we had a successful day. On Monday, we welcomed our new Form 1 students to the College and I wish them every success as they now become part of Hillcrest College’s story.
I am not oblivious of the many sacrifices that our parents make in sending their children to school in this very stressful and demanding economic environment.
“In this life, we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.” Mother Theresa
In the quote above, Mother Theresa very powerfully captures important wisdom about how to approach life (and schooling) to make it more fulfilling and significant. Teaching and learning offer us all numerous opportunities to focus on a number of ‘small things’ that culminate over time to produce students that are prepared to do the ‘great things of life. With this in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the following for exceptional results in their A-Level exams.
1. Paras Govind – 20 points
2. Vongai Gonese – 14 points
3. Ashleigh Manyarara – 14 points and
4. Cleopas Mugweni – 14 points
Our current Headboy and Headgirl, Munashe Marembo and Tadiwanashe Zishiri attained 15 and 20 points respectively in their AS Level results.
Please be assured that as we move forward, our children and their needs will always be at the center of the decisions we make as a school. We have a very exciting journey ahead of us as we work together as a united community to build on the good things that are already in place at Hillcrest College. Our academic year has the potential to be even better.
Thank you.
Orbert Chipato
