Dear Parents and Guardians
The February Mid-Term break is already upon us before we know it.  How time flies!

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back to school.  We extend a very special welcome to all the new pupils, parents and guardians to the Hillcrest family and wish you a fruitful association with the school.

The Headmaster, Mr. S. Kaziboni is on a month’s leave.  We thank him for an inspiring start to the year and wish him a well deserved rest.

On teaching attachment are Mr. A. Caiombo and Miss A. Fatougu.  We would like to wish the lady and gentleman all the very best during their stay with us.

2014 is another ‘Year of Excellence’ in Academics, Sports and Cultural activities.  We look forward to a diverse curriculum and varied instructional methods that will benefit our pupils in their Checkpoint, IGCSE, ‘AS’ and ‘A’ Level courses.

Culture
We had a very fruitful Speech and Drama training workshop organised by Kathy Norman of the National Allied Arts.  Our facilitators were Mr. James Carey from the United States working with local facilitators Musa Saruro amd Bob Mutumbi from the Allied Arts team.  The workshop was aimed at equipping teachers with practical skills to help their students prepare for the annual festival which will be held in Harare from 23rd June – 12th July 2014.  Eighteen teachers from our local schools also took part.

Our sincere thanks go to Kathy Norman for organising this informative outreach programme.

Hostel
Farmcrest hostel is still struggling under the spell of the hail storm. We still have leaks here and there but an effort has been made to make the place homely and safe for our children. The hostel can only be repaired when children are away during the first term holidays.

Our enrolment as a hostel has gone up with a number of pupils coming in from Mozambique. This positive trend is a reflection of the trust placed on us as a boarding house by parents. We will assure you of our commitment to creating a home for your children and an environment that is conducive to learning.

The hostel has new appointments of house parents. Mr I. Nhema is the new housemaster on the boys’ side taking over from Mr D. F. Munjoma. Mrs E. B. Mhike is the new housemistress on the girls’ side taking over from Ms S. Marange. We would like to thank the outgoing house parents for their efforts and outstanding commitment to their duties for many years. The incumbent house parents come with a wide experience in hostel and handling pupils and we wish them a lovely stay in our hostel.

Have a pleasant time with your children. It is time to check whether your children have adequate clothing items as required at school and hostel. Remember that all clothing items should be labelled for easy identification at laundry. Parents are reminded to bring back their children back to hostel before 6 pm. The access road to hostel is very slippery this rainy season and due caution should be taken.

I wish you all a warm, happy and restful mid-term break with your children.
