About the Library

The Richard Hanley Library was officially opened on 18 October 2001. The library has under gone tremendous transformation since then. The last three years have seen rapid growth with new books being acquired and Internet connected computers now aid student research.

Vision

To be one of the top class Academic Libraries in Zimbabwe, utilizing new and emerging technologies in the provision of services and information to the University community.

Mission Statement

The Library will provide appropriate information and library services using varied media to meet diverse user needs.

Staff

 The library is run by a qualified Librarian who is assisted by eight Lower Six students. The beauty of being a school Librarian is that you work with every child in the system.

Resources

The library offers both print and electronic resources.

Print Resources

Popular Fiction books.

  • Non Fiction books for all subjects offered at the school.
  • Reference sources for all subject areas.
  •  Magazines such as The Traveller, The Spectator
  • Newspapers (Nine Titles on offer)

Electronic Resources

  • At full capacity, the library will offer twenty five networked computers which are connected to the internet.
  • Senior students can to the school’s WiFi on their laptops in the library.
  • CDs,
  • Tapes (both audio and video),
  • E-Books
  • E-Journals
  • Internet

As a centre for education, the Richard Hanley Library is committed to providing quality resources and services to its clients. We therefore, welcome charitable contributions from individuals, families, Alumni and friends of Hillcrest to ensure that the library collections, services and programs remain current and dynamic.
